Student & Teacher Forums
We are pleased to introduce you to our new, improved general communication facilities for students and teachers in Japan and the UK.
From September 2013, students and teachers in both countries will be able to use one of three fully translated forums to share message exchanges with like-minded peers in both countries. The aim of the forums is to encourage users to make new friends whilst enjoying a cultural exchange that is free from a language barrier. The forums are suitable for all students and teachers registered on the site and we welcome both schools with existing partnerships and those without.
Please help your students select the correct, age-appropriate forum. As always, our forums are password protected, secure and moderated by staff from The Japan Society. Click here to see our Security Policy in more detail.
Making Friends (Primary/Elementary)
This forum is for KS2 or equivalent students in the UK and upper elementary school pupils in Japan (8 years upwards). It provides a secure environment to introduce our younger users to the world of intercultural exchange. Students are encouraged to introduce themselves, write and ask questions about their school and community, their interests and pastimes. Moderators will also encourage students to discuss topical and seasonal events such as school sports days, local festivals and celebrations.
We welcome individual student messages, but also accept messages posted on behalf of classes or clubs. Teachers are also invited to join the community.
Making Friends (Secondary/Junior & Senior High)
This forum is for KS3/4 and Sixth Form or equivalent students in the UK and Junior and Senior High School students in Japan (12 plus). It provides a secure environment where students can continue to explore the world of intercultural exchange. Students are encouraged to introduce themselves, write and ask questions about their school and community, their interests and pastimes, as well as current affairs and specific interests. Moderators will also encourage students to discuss topical and seasonal events such as school sports days, local festivals and celebrations and also world and current affairs of relevance.
We welcome individual student messages but also accept messages posted on behalf of classes or clubs. Teachers are also invited to join the community.
